| Introduction | You all know the mind-boggling facts about the ocean: it covers 71 percent of the planet, is full of as-yet undiscovered forms of life, and it's also being busily fished out. I grew up near the ocean, and it's always held a fascination for me. But while writing a piece for Scientific American I realized that understanding how ocean currents will respond to warming ocean temperatures will affect everything from fish populations to the climate in my adopted country of Norway. Chasing Currents is my effort to understand the research that's out there. |
