Introduction	Ruby has spent the last 16 years single-handedly raising a bi-racial son in a teeny-tiny town. As said son seems to be almost fully cooked and ready to leave the oven to begin his life, so Ruby, too, begins her next chapter. Never one to wallow, Ruby is rediscovering the passions of her past and whether they are still relevant to her present. Newly minted, fresh and shiny, this creative, liberal, adventuresome post-punk woman is pulling her head out of the rut of home-ownership, responsible, 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, semi-boring existence and testing the waters of internet dating, tattoo parlours, old friends, and who knows what else as she comes to terms with her inner soul. Ruby is a self-taught columnist, skilled secretary, budding artist, observer of life.
