About Me

With my formal education in the arts (Amherst/Yale), and my real-world skills honed at one of the world's biggest brand consultancies (Landor), I was just as biased as the ad/marketing guys when it came to thinking about what it took to create a blue chip brand. It wasn’t until I joined Apple in the early '90s, and was chartered with directing the company’s branding efforts, that I got clued into the obvious: responsibility for building the brand doesn’t reside solely in the marketing department. These days I’m running StealThunder, a Silicon Valley brand strategy agency, with my partner Peter Russert. We help companies like Google, Yahoo!, Logitech--and a host of smaller firms--build and enhance brand experiences.
