Introduction | John Weeden received his BA in Art History from Rhodes College in Memphis. He completed a Masters degree in Contemporary Art at the Sotheby's Institute of Art, London, after which he attained a second MA with the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College in New York state. He has curated exhibitions in London, Paris, New York, Scotland, Switzerland, and Memphis. His writing on art has been published in 'Modern Painters' and 'Art Papers', among others, and he provided production assistance for the museum catalog 'Les annees pop,' Centre Pompidou, Paris, 2001. At the Rhodes College Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts (CODA), Weeden led an arts leadership training program. While serving as Executive Director of the UrbanArt Commission, he worked to enhance the cultural vibrancy of Memphis through the development of public art. Weeden is the founder and principal of the Vita Brevis Arts Bureau, which provides art advising services for appraisals, collections, curation, and public projects. |
