Introduction Literacy and being in the library has always been my passion! Some of my fondest childhood memories are of stopping by the Loomis Library every day on my way home from school. As I would walk in, Jesse Helms (the librarian) would say, “Ah, my little red-haired girl! I have just the book for you!” Well the hair is now gray, but the passion for literacy and the library is just as strong! I received my BA and elementary teaching credential from National University, Sacramento in 1994. All of my working life I have taught...infants through adults. Since 2001 I been working for the University of California as a parent educator. I conduct workshops throughout Placer County for parents of 0-5 year olds, teaching about early literacy development and school readiness. I now continue in that position part time, in addition to my responsibilities as the Library Literacy Specialist or PALS Coordinator. I am thrilled to be on board ~ working on behalf of adult learners who wish to improve their literacy skills!
