Introduction Born in 1975 Syosset, New York.Teri Proschuk began as a figurative artist, however continues to push boundaries and now is incorporating abstraction and conceptual ideas into her work. She paints with oil using an almost three-dimensional impasto style, building up thick layers of paint and often scrapes areas off. Teri uses bold color, line and texture as a vehicle to express emotion. Through studying figurative art she has gained a visual vocabulary necessary to see the world abstractly. In addition to painting, Teri does a large volume of drawing people in public places, capturing life as it unfolds. Her drawings are semi-abstract and she uses dark bold lines that are often disconnected. Her main impetus is not to create an exact likeness but to capture the energy of the subject in relation to their environment. Teri graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 1997 with a BFA in Illustration. She studied at the Polimoda, Florence Italy, summer 1996 and is currently studying at the Art Students League of New York with Mary Beth Mckenzie.
