About me

Gender Male
Occupation biophysicist & computer scientist
Location Utah
Introduction I am a biophysicist and computer scientist with a broad research background and research publications in statistical mechanics, signal processing, biochemistry, molecular genetics, and medicine. When not driving a desk, I can frequently be found running the trails and ridgetops of the Wasatch Mountains—often accompanied by one of my sled dogs. I started running trails in 1975, and currently race ultramarathons at the 50K, 50 mile, and 100 mile distances. I have extensive experience in endurance competition, having also previously raced road bicycles, mountain bikes, and nordic skis. Though I am now too old to be truly competitive as an ultrarunner, I try to continue applying my endurance exercise experience and knowledge of biochemistry and medicine to improve the ultrarunning experience for runners of all ages.
Interests trail running, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, wilderness travel, photography, and cooking
