About me

Gender Female
Occupation Writer, Artist and Art Dealer
Location New York, New York
Introduction I'd be described by the people who know me best as somewhat bohemian, an aesthete and a dilettante in the classic sense. I can be very naughty at times--as are you, I'm sure. I've lived splendidly whether I was in New Orleans, Venice or New York -- all cities on the water--I studied fine and decorative arts at the Sorbonne in Paris, Versailles and Venice. I am a painter and published writer of mystery fiction--in fact, I'm often a mystery to myself! I deal in beauty--paintings that move me, whether very valuable or worth little. I'm an art historian, true romantic, observer of life AND pursuer of the visually, intellectually, sensually, spiritually and emotionally rewarding, as well as the truly hilarious. And run-on sentences.
Interests Color--everything about it, Japanese Kimonos, dogs-- especially pugs and rescued greyhounds, vintage clothing, books, books, books! All things equine.
Favorite Movies Anything involving Venice; any movie by Max Ophuls, Renoir's The Rules of the Game; Visconti, Fellini, The Thin Man, My Man Godfrey, any Cary Grant, William Powell and Myrna Loy, all the PBS classics--Brideshead Revisited, Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy, --pre-code classics. Wonderful old movies. I love Juliette Binoche, Kristin Scott-Thomas, James Purefoy . . You owe it to yourself to see Summer Hours.
Favorite Music Early Music (Pre 18th c.) with original instruments, Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grapelli, Chopin, Liszt, Rameau and music of the French Courts, Zydeco, tango, Winton Marsalis, Edith Piaf--no Dixieland music at brunch!
Favorite Books A Dance to the Music of Time, Emma, The Count of Monte Cristo, Cousin Bette, The Little Prince, any books by Kenneth Clark, Evelyn Waugh, The Honorable Schoolboy, Love in a Cold Climate
