About Me
I'm a working playwright based in the D.C. area. By this I mean, I work at playwriting and every now and then, a check comes in the mail. I'm a founding member of The Playwrights Gymnasium, a process-oriented playwrights workshop. We meet monthly to challenge ourselves out of our respective ruts. If you live in D.C. and want to know more, email me at dwgregory at dwgregory dot com. My big hit is a play called Radium Girls, which has been produced about 100 times, mostly by high schools and colleges--which I theorize like it for the cast size (potentially huge without doubling) and the number of good parts for women (many). My theatrical heroes, in no particular order: Megan Terry, Bertolt Brecht, Chekhov, Ibsen, and Stoppard. My ambition: to write the perfect play. A play so well constructed, you cannot cut a single word without changing its meaning. A play so beautifully crafted you could not want to change a word. Why would you? That is my Holy Grail, to which I aspire and which I have yet to achieve. We all need a goal in life.
