Virginia Beniac-Brooks

About Me

A Partner of leading Australian Patent and Trade Mark Attorney firm, Phillips Ormonde & Fitzpatrick. Prior to entering the profession, Virginia spent time in medical research at the Department of Medicine at the University of Sydney. Since joining the profession, Virginia has worked in the patent area with particular emphasis on chemical and related fields. Virginia has extensive experience in the prosecution of patent applications before both the Australian and New Zealand Patent Offices. She worked for a number of major Australian patent attorney firms prior to joining Phillips Ormonde & Fitzpatrick in 2003. In recent years Virginia has conducted or assisted in a number of patent cases before the Australian Patent Office; the Federal Court of Australia and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal on behalf of clients in the pharmaceutical and chemical area. Virginia has also been involved in taking a matter on special leave to the High Court of Australia for a major global pharmaceutical company.
