Occupation | Art Teacher/Fine Artist |
Introduction | My teaching journey began when I was still a student -- ahem - over 20 years ago! I hope my journey never ends because its always evolving, keeping me inspired, motivated, and passionate about my love of both art and learning. In the beginning before going to college, studying art technique and obtaining certification my teaching was pure and instinctual. Then i learned about theory and pedagogy and my teaching evolved to address those things. Through more research and experience my teaching style has almost come full circle and now is back to a lot of instinct winning out over theory.. By that I mean the my instruction is emergent and responding in the moment as well as over time to the needs, interests and experiences of my learners. I have embraced the wonder of student autonomy and independent decision making. If you have been a long time follower of this blog you may have noticed this gradual evolution from it inception when I was a student teacher to where it is now. |
Interests | Painting, art history, making things by hand, and promoting kindness. |
