Eric writes for the Financial Times and other publications on subjects ranging from European politics, economy and security to architecture, travel and spirituality. A foreign correspondent specializing in eastern Europe from 1997 to 2008, he has a particular interest in post-communist political, economic and cultural affairs. He presently lives in Wisconsin with his wife Laura and two children.
