| Introduction | I am a British writer/translator but my parents came from North Africa. In 2008 I left my job in London, rented a van with a rather interesting Greek driver, and drove across Europe. I cramped what I horded over fourteen years of living and working in London into the van, and drove across Europe to the mountains in central Italy where I rented a small farmhouse without central heating or a washing machine. Life in that house was so hard, see previous posts, freezing cold in winter and boiling hot in summer. Then in October 2011 I moved out from the farmhouse (it was a terrible case of a nasty landlady, see post on blog), I stayed temporarily in a little flat for 2 months, then found another farmhouse in a very isolated part in the mountain. I brought the two kittens I rescued with me, Kiwi and Luna and now I look after 15 cats, plus taking care of the house and the land, in exchange for rent and bills :) Now I have running hot water, a brand new washing machine and internet. I set up this blog to document my journey, my life on a farm in the mountains, writing, my quest for Green, sustainable, and ethical Living. |
