About Me

I'm just a rusty old new artist trying on a new set of wings. I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a BFA in graphic design in 1988. I took many years away from art to work as a librarian in an elementary school where I ended up directing an art program for over 1000 students and trained 80 docents each year. While researching lessons a couple of years ago, I discovered ATC's and one thing led to another. In fact, I got so excited about collage & mixed media work, I quit my jobs to work on art full time. I fell in love with using, manipulating, and reinventing vintage images and constructing completely new characters. I hope to offer a lighthearted and simple visual morsel without the burden of trying to communicate a deep social or philosophical message. After some digital manipulation, I reprint parts from many different vintage images and then carefully hand-cut and hand-color these pieces in the character construction process. The characters are then attached to a background that is usually made from layering other photographs or textures digitally.

Chicken monkey shoes?

I have no idea what that means but could it be a title for my first masterpiece?
