Charlie Johnson

About Me

Charlie Johnson is Interim Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Brownwood, Texas. He recently completed a year-long Interim Pastorate with the Broadway Baptist Church of Ft. Worth. From 2006-2008, he served an appointment as Visiting Instructor in Preaching at the McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University in Atlanta. During that time, he also served as Interim Pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Nashville. He has ministered with churches in Kentucky and Texas, including the Trinity Baptist Church of San Antonio (2001-2006)and the Second Baptist Church of Lubbock (1989-2001). Charlie was called to the ministry in the summer of 1977 in a Washington D.C. ghetto. His ministry has been marked by active concern for social justice and inclusiveness. He is married to Jana Powers Corley. They have three children. Chad (31) is married to Mary Beth Lancaster of Oklahoma and manages a ranch west of San Angelo, TX. Cliff (27) serves in the Army Corps of Engineers and has just completed a second tour of duty in Kuwait. Chris Anne (25) lives and works in Lubbock. He has one granddaughter, Corley Elizabeth, who is 6 months old.
