Introduction The name for this blog is in honor of my mentor, the late great Mike Royko. Working for him at the Chicago Tribune was the highlight of my journalistic career and I miss him dearly. Those lucky enough to work for him for two-year stints were affectionately referred to as "legmen" but we chicks got together and changed it to "legwoman." There were about 16 of us who worked approximately two-year stints with Mike during his 30-plus year career as one of the best columnists in America. We gathered facts and conducted interviews that would be the fodder for his daily syndicated column. I went on to have a successful career at the Tribune before leaving to attend law school. Much of my reportage at the Tribune centered around legal affairs. I fell in love with the law and left the paper to attend law school. I am now proudly a licensed attorney, a lecturer at Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism and a freelance writer. I enjoy writing about legal issues and plan on doing so here. Right now, I'm covering the trial of the disgraced and impeached former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. I'll write about other topics, too.
