About Me

Joel Makower is a well-respected voice on sustainable business, clean technology, and the green marketplace. He is founder and director of strategy of GreenBiz.com; co-founder of Clean Edge Inc., a clean-technology research and publishing firm; and a senior advisor at GreenOrder, a New York-based environmental strategy consultancy. A former nationally syndicated columnist, he is author of more than a dozen books, including Beyond the Bottom Line: Putting Social Responsibility to Work for Your Business and the World and The E-Factor: The Bottom-Line Approach to Environmentally Responsible Business. He has consulted to a wide range of companies on corporate environmental practices, including Gap, GE, General Motors, Hewlett Packard, Nike, and Procter & Gamble. He has been a featured commentator for public radio’s "Marketplace” and serves as an advisor to the Journal of Industrial Ecology, Climate Trust, VantagePoint Venture Partners, and others.
