| Introduction | I have ridden a camel in the Negev; watched the splendor of a sunrise from a North Carolina beach; been kissed in a secret cove in Petra; performed a Bach partita in a recital hall in Pennsylvania; been proposed to beside the Western Wall in Jerusalem and underneath tall oaks in Virginia and in Lover's Cove on Catalina Island off California's coast (all by the same man!); eaten pizza in a boat on the Nile; seen the meeting place between Asia and Europe in Istanbul; camped in a tent in a snowstorm in California; wandered through stunning abbey ruins in England; given birth to five children in three different corners of the world; and come home to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to settle down and raise my family on the land on which I was raised. The titles I've been given, although not unique, are precious to me: wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend. But the most cherished title I could ever have is the one God has given to me. He calls me...Mine. |
