Introduction Don: Life changed on November 14, 2007 when the doctor said 'kidney disease'...'dialysis'...and I started hemo-dialysis the very next day at age 54. Then, 4 1/2 months later, thanks to hard work, alot of prayer, lots of luck and the unconditional love of my wife who was the donor, kidney transplant surgery was completed on April 3, 2008. I can tell you one thing that I now know beyond question...kidneys are a wondrous creation from God above that we take for granted, just like the beating of our hearts... Ida: I knew I would be a match...I just knew it somehow...I believe things work out how they are supposed to work out...God was watching...
Interests Don: Journalism from the heart, the quiet of the woods at dawn and dusk, the colors within the sunrise, the peace of being 'home', liveoaks that reach to the sky, the rich flavors of the Texas Hill Country, Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoons. Ida: "Rock n' roll", Elton John, laying in my folding chair in the cool shade in the backyard after a hard day's work...napping and reading Poeple magazine, morning exercising to 'turbo-jam, walking in the still of the morning, saving the universe one person at a time...starting with my husband.
