| Introduction | As a mother and young woman of color, I can look back on my perceptions past and present and realize how through the media and outside forces, I have been shaped to have certain images of self that I believe could and should have been redirected in my very early years. I believe that it is our duty as parents to instill in our children the utmost ideas of pride and self-love and worth from day 1 and intentionally so. |
