| Introduction | Η Book Lab είναι μια ομάδα που δημιουργήθηκε από την πρωτοβουλία οκτώ καλλιτεχνών βιβλιοδετών. Αντικείμενό μας είναι η χειροποίητη βιβλιοδεσία, σε μία ευρεία γκάμα από την κλασσική έως τη μοντέρνα. Οκτώ τεχνίτες με διαφορετικές τάσεις αλλά κοινό γνώμονα την ποιοτική δουλειά, το σεβασμό στην ιστορία, το συσχετισμό του εξωφύλλου με το περιεχόμενο, αποφασίζουν να συνεργαστούν. Our group was created in 2011, with the view to promote bookbinding techniques amidst the growth of electronic publications. Our labs are situated around Exarcheia, the traditional bookbinding and printing area of Athens. We want to bring your books back to life. Our task is not only to conserve your books but also to promote classical and modern bookbinding methods. Although we have different approaches, aesthetics, techniques and individual styles, we all love books. So, with the view to respecting the history of the book not only as an art form and an object but also as a reflection of the creator’s soul, we have decided to collaborate, in order to keep the print alive: for a book is not only qualified by its content, but also by its cover and its binding. |
