| Introduction | I am a compulsive writer in search of a subject. A cynical idealist. Catholic. Mother. Wife. Mac user. Who sews. Through days uncounted--and hardships unnumbered--I fought my way through academic red tape, even going so far as to write a dissertation, for the promise of a job that would not require set hours or tie me to an office. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted one thing and one thing only--the ability to have literary conversations on demand. Academic job searches being what they are, I was "always a bridesmaid" and now find myself in an office, for a set number of hours a week, teaching people about software. For Windows. C'est la vie. But in spite of my Ph.D. in English, I still believe in the inherent value of the act of reading--yes, I really do. And I still want those on-demand literary conversations. Enter the blog. |
