About Me

I am a pioneer minister in Cornwall, UK, in a Fresh Expressions project in Truro, relating to people on the fringes of church, using house groups and the Internet to encourage them towards faith. I play guitar and lead worship with the band GraceNotes. In 2007 I became one of the BBC Radio 2 and Local Radio hymnwriters of the year for "Dear Lord, Where are the Signs of Hope?" I am married to Joy, and we have two children: Sian who's engaged to Damien and Andrew who's engaged to Rose. We have two grandsons, Rhys (4) and Matthew (born on St David's Day!). As a passionate Welshman I love hymns, especially the rich harmonies I remember from my chapel upbringing. I become very emotional when I hear great crowds singing hymns like 'Cwm Rhondda', especially victorious Welsh rugby congregations! Before becoming a minister I worked as a journalist, everything from reporter to designer and group editor. I also trained around 450 reporters. I started preaching at 17 and in 1999, began work as a Methodist Minister in the United Kingdom. During my seven years in North Cornwall, I pioneered the Tubestation project at Polzeath (www.tubestation.org).
