| Introduction | i am a fifth generation montanan, raised on a subsistence farm with my fingers forever in the dirt and toes dangling in the river. there are a few places i have always travelled to lose myself for awhile in the pure joy of existence. one of these places is inhabited by the bold and luscious colors of my watercolor palette, crumbly graphite and a meaty, layered piece of paper. i have painted since i can remember. each time i do, i am surprised. each time i do, i end up somewhere i couldn't have imagined at the start. and along the way, my mind chatter fades and i simply paint. it's one of those rare moments that i am utterly present. |
