Almost bedtime

About me

Occupation Stay at home mum
Location Vancouver, BC, Canada
Introduction I used to be the girl from Yorkshire who had backpacked all over the world, who watched independent movies and read books by Nobel prize winning authors. The girl who moved to Philadelphia to further her career in cancer research. The girl who would often pop into the pub for ONE drink on the way home from work with her friends and have to be forcibly dragged out at the end of the night. Then I had a baby. And 2 years later another. Our family moved to Vancouver and had another baby. And then another. And ever since the first baby arrived, seven years ago, I have evolved into a woman who watches romantic comedies, who enjoys reading trashy magazines and chick-lit. A woman whose travel plans now generally feature a 5 star hotel with pool. A woman who, despite all the responsibilities of bringing up 4 children, still thinks that she's 28 rather than 40. I love being a stay-at-home mum. But that doesn't mean it is easy. Sometimes the routine is unbearably dull. Sometimes my children test my patience to the limits. And that's when I find myself asking: is it almost bedtime?
