Introduction Hello, my name is Rick Hunt. I retired in 2001, after 35 years with the Federal government as a Human Resource manager with US OPM, FAA, and Census. I love extended independent travel to 59 countries, especially Asia and Latin America. by using frequent flyer miles or points in 71 round trips. I churn out credit cards to get the bonus points. I rely on the Lonely Planet (LP) guides for my travels, and map.me and Google Maps to navigate when I am in cities. LP is useful for identifying tourist highlights, how to get in and out of cities and airports, and maps of sights, lodging, food, and entertainment places. I usually stay at inexpensive hotels and hostels, and I post the costs of these travels. I enjoy using local transportation to get around whether it is bus, ferryboat, moto-taxi, tuk-tuk, and metro/subway. I also enjoy walking and hiking. During my trips, I go on specific tours usually booked through the hotels and hostels. Occasionally, I incorporate responsible tour companies' offerings such as Crooked Trails Travels and Intrepid Tours during my 2 to 3-month stays.
