About me

Location Anchorage, Alaska, United States
Introduction I garden in a zone 3/4 area of Anchorage, Alaska. My former home and the yard formerly known as The Last Frontier Garden (from 1999-2010 anyway) was small, only 1/7 of an acre, so every inch was precious. My new home is on an acre sans garden. Most of the yard is sloped turfgrass, so a fun (ha!) new challenge. A few summers during college, I worked in the horticulture industry and had the pleasure of being in some of the most beautiful gardens in town (and picked up a botany minor on the way). In the past five years or so, I have been drawn to lower maintainence plants like ornamental grasses and shrubs. Former collections included: rusty garden art, Viburnums, garden books on many topics, grasses, cheap gloves, Bergenias, and rocks of all sizes. Collections I hope to have at the new place: ornamental grasses, salvias, bergenias, dogwoods, and some giant rusty garden art. What can I say? I'm a creature of habit. The Master Gardener class opened my eyes to the importance of sharing gardening with others. Enjoy! Just don't expect to be informed, edified, or learn anything about gardening and you'll be completely satisfied with your visit.
