| Introduction | The BCMS Foundation was created in 1995 by members of the Bexar County Medical Society and the BCMS Alliance as the philanthropic arm of the Society. Its mission is to promote medical careers through scholarships and support local healthcare issues. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to area students pursuing career in the medical, nursing and other health-related careers as well as grants to community organizations such as Bee Wise Immunize, Project Mend and Any Baby Can. The major Foundation fundraisers are the annual spring Golf Tournament and the annual holiday Gala. This year we are adding two new fundraisers – The Power of the Penny drive and a Casino night to be held in conjunction with the BCMS Auto Show. Additionally, the Foundation works closely with the BCMS Alliance on projects such as Hard Hats for Little Heads, Teen Pregnancy Programs, and Preventing Substance Abuse. Also, $100,000 was presented to the UTHSCSA for the University’s Endowment Fund. These are accomplishments the entire medical community can be proud of. |
