Occupation | sub teacher, LAUSD; seasonal employee for California Dept. of Parks and Rec. |
Location | Long Beach, California |
Introduction | I'm a substitute elementary school teacher for LAUSD. I mostly work in special ed. classes (moderate to severe disabilities), but sometimes I take regular ed. classes--which are not my favorite because the kids are usually very difficult to manage. In the past I've taught art in middle school as well as ESL to adults in the San Pedro area. I spent several years in Saudi Arabia teaching English. For the past few summers I've been a seasonal worker at various California State Parks. |
Interests | wine, food, cooking, organic farming, driving 2 lane roads in northern California |
Favorite Movies | anything by Pedro Almodovar, most of Woody Allen, and just about anything with subtitles |
Favorite Books | I'm hooked on New Yorker magazine--amazing writing and easy to haul around. Vanity Fair is another great mag that has good stuff to read during my breaks at work. The Quotable Richard Hitchens is great, but I just pick it up and read it when I'm at a bookstore. |
