About Me

I taught English and reading in the United States, Malaysia, and Japan. I also studied in France. Now I take pictures and write. It's fun. I write about and take pictures of the things we see, use, and do in our daily life in Japan. (I'm just a mom with a camera. Actually, it's a very good one-- a Canon Rebel SLR.) Big Sister and Little Brother go to Japanese public schools. Baba and Aunt live downstairs. Even though Papa is busy, busy, busy, he checks the blog every day. (He checks my Japanese spelling.) My work has appeared in U.S. children's magazines. A poem of mine will be in an anthology published by Blooming Tree Press in 2010. A young adult short story set in Japan will appear in Hunger Mountain in June 2009. I am a member of SCBWI and its Tokyo chapter. ****By the way, I screen all comments. I welcome them, but this blog is written especially for kids so please make them kid-friendly. Kids, please don't include your last name or the name of your hometown in your comments. Thanks. In my Blogger profile, I included the things I liked when I was growing up. You may recognize some of them. Good things tend to last.
