| Introduction | I am a follower of Jesus, the Nazarene who was crucified by the Romans for proclaiming a kingdom that undermined almost all accepted religious and political ideals. I am embarrassed by the perception of Christianity in my country and around the world. I suspect that American Christianity has synthesized so many non-Jesus ideas in the name of holiness, patriatism, and Biblical faithfulness that we no longer accurately offer the love of Jesus to a hurting world. |
