| Introduction | Our ultimate vision is that one day, we will have a fully functioning democracy because every person will occupy what Harry Truman said was “the highest office in the land-that of a citizen”. Be the Change consists of three components; a policy shop, citizen mobilization & engagement, and political action. Be the Change will work with social entrepreneurs, community leaders, and policy experts to develop big, bold, policies initially around the issues of education, poverty, youth policy, political reform, nat'l service, and America's role in the world. We will mobilize citizens to support these policies in local communities and cities. Be the Change will also mobilize to support non-traditional political candidates who want to run for office who stand behind the agenda and the principles of Be the Change. In connecting policy, politics, and citizen engagement, we hope to move to a new playing field where politics truly reflects the needs of the people and where money and access cease to become barriers for the next generation of political leaders. |
