About Me

I am an attorney, and serve as Director of Advocacy at the Center for Independent Living of South Florida (Miami-Dade). I can be reached at mdubin@pobox.com. From 1992-2005, I served as a Senior Trial Attorney at the Justice Department, in the Disability Rights Section of the Civil Rights Division, in Washington, D.C.. In that capacity, I was responsible for nationwide enforcement of the ADA on behalf of the United States. I was a prosecutor for over 10 years, and served as Special Counsel to the Justice Department’s Office on Violence Against Women, in Washington, D.C. I am also a former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, and serve as Executive Director of a nonprofit crime victims’ organization that focuses on violence against women, crime victims with disabilities, and human rights, called CAVNET (www.cavnet.org) . I also serve as Chair of the Disability Law Committee of the Florida Bar, a Committee of the Public Interest Law Section. I had the honor of serving on President-Elect Obama's National Disability Policy Committee.I also served as the Florida Coordinator, Obama for President Voter Protection Disability Task Force.
