Lawrence A. Johnson is the recently jettisoned former classical music critic of the Miami Herald, and, prior to that, classical music writer at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel for six years. He is a regular contributor to Gramophone and Opera and has written for The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Opera News and The New Criterion.
