| Introduction | I write opera and concert reviews for The Daily Telegraph and am deputy editor of Opera magazine. I have a background in musicology and my PhD (awarded from King's College London in early 2011) was a critical reassessment of Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal's 'Die Frau ohne Schatten'. My article, 'Melancholy and Allegory in Die Frau ohne Schatten' is forthcoming in the 'Cambridge Opera Journal'. My review-article of 'The Cambridge Companion to Richard Strauss', ed.
