About Me

I'm a multiracial adoptive mother in an interracial marriage raising a transracially adopted multiracial son. I'm also the non-adopted daughter of an Asian adoptee (non-transnational). Confused yet? It's hard to keep it all straight, but most of the time I manage. Racially I am Asian, hapa, or multiracial (Asian/white). Ethnically I am Japanese + Anglo-German-Southern. My husband is white and Irish-Polish-Southern. Our son is black/African-American and from a multiracial black/white biological family. As for my personality, I am stubborn and curious. My unedited resume would include waitressing, hash-slinging, bussing, teaching English, teaching Spanish, teaching literature, managing an office, graphic design, makeup artist, video editing, tech support and some other things I have probably forgotten. I dropped out of a PhD program but did successfully get an MBA. I enjoy talking, learning and arguing about race, culture, politics, adoption and local Atlanta issues.
