Introduction Full time painter, I am a recovering illustrator turned fine artist. The purpose of this blog is to give a look into the day to day workings of a painter. Mostly it's aimed at artists, or collectors who are curious about how my art comes to be. Not only the How-To aspect, but also the Why of the painting. At times I will tell the story behind my paintings. So often I have people tell me that knowing the back story to my work helps them to appreciate it that much more. I know it's true for me, when I learn about an artist I like or about one of their works that I admire, I feel a deeper connection to the artist and the painting. In my approach to Art and the teaching aspect, I can tell you now, I'm not a shortcut kind of guy. For me there is no magic bullet that will make you a good artist. The things that will make you an outstanding artist are the kinds of things they don't teach at many universities today. Drawing for instance. Let me know, if after reading a post, you would like to know more or would like to talk about it a bit more. I'm always happy talking art. Happy Painting, Steve
