Introduction "I Care Because?" is a collection of random thoughts and musings about life. Author Elizabeth Kirkland is an editor/publisher living in Northern Virginia with her husband and two children.
Interests Snow skiing, running, boxing, kickboxing, hiking, writing music, singing, playing the piano and the violin, writing, painting, spending time with family, traveling, drawing, painting, pointing and laughing, making fun of morons... The list really goes on and on.
Favorite Movies August Rush, Be Kind Rewind, Erin Brockovich (and other films directed by Steven Soderbergh), Juno, Working Girl, All the President's Men, The Paper (and other Ron Howard-directed movies), The Devil Wears Prada, Tarantino's and Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" flicks, Platoon (and most Oliver Stone-directed stuff), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (or anything, for that matter, directed by Steven Spielberg), pretty much anything directed by Penny or Gary Marshall, the Coen brothers, George Lucas, Clerks (and most of Kevin Smith's movies), The Breakfast Club (and other John Hughes-directed movies), P.S. I Love You, Julie and Julia, documentaries and docudramas, and horror movies in general
Favorite Music Classic (as in '60s) rock (for example, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors; Note: I DO NOT consider '80s music to fall into the "classic" rock category!), classical, some early '70s rock, '80s music... LOVE Janis Joplin, Beck, Cake, Fiona Apple, MGMT, Evanescence, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, UB40, U2, Sara McLachlan, Seal, Lenny Kravitz, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, 311, Fergie, the Dave Matthews band, Coldplay, Norah Jones, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Foo Fighters and the Black Eyed Peas and even some David Allan Coe and Lynyrd Skynyrd (on account of the fact that I went to college in the Deep South, more than likely), etc., etc. I'll pretty much listen to anything, but you will NEVER catch me line dancing at a country and western bar (at least not anymore; I did that once or twice while in high school and college. It was peer pressure, I swear!)!!!
Favorite Books The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald; Jemima J., by Jane Green; Food and Loathing: A Lament, by Betsy Lerner; I Am Legend, by Richard Matheson; The Lovely Bones, By Alice Sebold
