About Me
After years as a Knight-Ridder/San Jose Mercury News op-ed columnist and editorial writer, I left in 2001 to start an education blog, joannejacobs.com, freelance and write a book on a start-up charter school, "Our School," which was published at the end of 2005 and comes out in paperback in March, 2007. I've written for a variety of newspapers, magazines and web sites and freelanced for the Fordham Foundation.
