About Me

Writer, film lover, scholar and gentleman. Concerning my involvement with the Toronto J-Film Pow-Wow: I first got into Japanese film when, after multiple viewings of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Lost in Translation, I thought to myself, “There’s got to be more than this.” Many years and one degree in cinema studies later, I'm still making my way through the immense labyrinth that is Japanese cinema, continuing to expand my knowledge of it film by film while sharing my perspective with fellow viewers. One of my very favorite filmmakers is Akira Kurosawa, and, more often than not, Seven Samurai is considered my vote for the greatest film ever made.
