Introduction I am a fifth generation Texan. My mother's family roots here go back to the immigration of Germans in the mid 1800's. My father's family is originally from Louisiana where his people raised sugar cane and made syrup. His eldest ancestor was a gentleman who fled to the Louisiana Purchase from France where he had disgraced his family by fighting a duel over an actress. That may be my favorite family history story...but check back with me. New developments are always popping up. I have always been a writer. I love the sound of words, the origins of words, the layers of meaning some words have. Trying to understand why there is the word "uncouth" but no "couth" is a worthy exploration to me.
