About Me

Student, explorer, record collector, nerd.

Why does the taste of pennies remind you of losing a tooth?

Because pennies are primarily made of zinc, which is present in blood, especially the blood of those who eat foods high in zinc, such as oysters. When a tooth is lost, the gum will be left open for a while, leaving a small trickle of blood in your mouth. This taste is something we relate to when chewing a penny (not that I make it a hobby to do so), as a like a penny, blood contains zinc.
