Introduction I'm a perpetual student (sometimes officially, ie Wellesley and Harvard; sometimes just in the school of life) and wanderer. I like morning coffee, well-stamped passports, and wit that is sharp without being cruel. My faith is scarred but hardy. I keep being drawn back to urban ministry as it is where life most makes sense to me. I've lived in South Africa for a year and, well, let's just say I have a new appreciation for the US.
Interests reading, pondering, daydreaming, running, soccer, theology, history, philosophy, race, justice and reconciliation, international relations, language, travel, African-American studies, Barthian dialectics (I had to throw that one in there)
Favorite Movies Bend It Like Beckham, The Hours, The Way We Were, The Big Chill, Fight Club, Much Ado About Nothing, Garden State, Sense and Sensibility, Munich, Mamma Mia
Favorite Music old Motown, Michael Jackson, Southern hip-hop, Tupac, mindless pop music that makes you want to dance in the car on sunny days, Billie Holiday, Marvin Gaye
Favorite Books too many to list...Bleak House, Wives and Daughters, Middlemarch, Gilead, Cost of Discipleship, Anna Karenina, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Invisible Man, Jane Eyre, etc.

The hair from your last haircut ... what would it say about your new style?

"I understand that you felt using 150 bobby pins, two bottles of hair spray, and the Greek goddess Aphrodite as the inspiration for your updo for your sister's wedding was a mite excessive, but perhaps you went overboard in chopping it all off when you know you don't have the time or patience to get your bangs trimmed every six weeks and so have consigned yourself to an inevitable awkward stage."
