If mud is dirt plus water, what is clay?
Clay is simply smaller particles of dirt mixed with water. Often it becomes rather slick, making it very difficult to drive through. And then you have to wait along a red dirt (now clay) road in the desert for the clay to dry and turn back into dirt so you can drive home from the canyons.
