Introduction | A little longer than I am broad. Humanist with Buddhist tendencies. I believe in people as individuals and that all sentient beings are inherently benign and still evolving. I am also certain that a huge number of inanimate objects have it in for me, personally. I profoundly distrust collective behaviours, whether religious, political, nationalistic or artistic. When attempting to think on a universal scale, nationalities, creeds and tribalisms become trivial, controlling and self-sabotaging at best - and totally illogical at worst. namaste. |
Interests | daughters, lovers, shakespeare, quality craft skills in choreography, cinematography, taoism, haiku, chekov, sailing, breathing well, resisting a smoking addiction, fighting for principles |
Favorite Movies | The Sacrifice, every one of Tarkovski's works, Three Colours (Blue) and nearly all of Kieslowski's work, three or four of Kurosawa's less overblown epics and everyone and anyone who has a camera, be it ever so basic, something to say and a desire to learn the basic skills with which to put things together.etc.zzzzzzzz |
Favorite Music | Anything which lacks banality or vanity either in composition or performance - this excludes more than it includes, anything by Arvo Part performed by Keith Jarrett and Gideon Kremer, most of the performances by Chet Baker, anything by Beethoven or Mozart and some of Miles Davis when I can separate the racist, deeply ungenerous and entirely vain-glorious attitude in his autobiography from his music making |
Favorite Books | The Koran.... only kidding, The Empty Space by Peter Brook, Elephant by Raymond Carver, A Life In Letters by Anton Chekov, The Norton Anthology of Poetry |
