About Me

I am Jing X. Luo, or Brad Luo, a student of law, currently studying at Southern Methodist University (”SMU”) Dedman School of Law, in Dallas Texas, and I will graduate in May 2009. I really enjoy franchise law, intellectual property law, creditor’s rights/bankruptcy, commercial litigation/dispute resolution, and various legal issues of doing business in Greater China. So, most of my posts and writing herein touch upon these topics. Now a bit about who I am. Born and raised by peasants in southern Shaanxi Province, China, I sometimes could not even find my birthplace on Google Earth. Needless to say, it is a very small place. Like many of my peers, I deserted my youth in exchange for a seat in a college, but I am luckier than many in that I actually got into college in Wuhan where I majored in English. After graduation, I “rode” into Houston, Texas, where I taught English and attended graduate school at night. My stint in education ended when “No Child Left Behind” brought back memories of my childhood and youth, so I moved onto to the study of law, a field that I had aborted years before.

Why are some lawyers so uptight?
