About Me
I am a Professor of Psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills (since 1975). I am a research psychologist and an international expert in the "Psychology of Technology." Over the past 20 years, my colleagues and I have examined reactions to technology among over 20,000 people around the world. I have written three books: "Me, MySpace and I: Parenting the Net Generation" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007), "TechnoStress: Coping with Technology @Work @Home @Play" (Wiley, 1998), and "The Mental Health Technology Bible" (Wiley, 1997) and write a technology column for the newspaper The National Psychologist (since 1995). I have also given dozens of keynote speeches around the world. My most recent research includes: the impact of MySpace on adolescents and parents, studies on online dating, an examination of preferences for peer vs. expert advice on the Internet, and the impact of multitasking on English literacy in children and adults. I received my B.A. in Mathematics from UCLA and my Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego. I reside in San Diego, California.
