Introduction After being overweight most of my life, I finally decided to lose 54 pounds between March and September 2009 (without the help of any pills, paid diet programs, personal training, gym memberships, or work-out videos), and have kept if off. Like most working Americans, I'm a busy, cubical-dwelling, family-oriented food lover who simply lacks the time to be a gym rat. As you can imagine, tons of people have asked me for my "secrets." Well, the purpose of this blog is to reveal them, and most importantly, HOW I STAY MOTIVATED. It's actually very weird to be in this position, because less than two years ago I would make fun of runners "what's chasing them?," and people exercising in any way "why exercise when you can sleep?," and the thought of eating healthy made me nauseous. I couldn't relate at all to perfect-looking fitness gurus- I still can't really because I can't imagine them craving any (insert list of sugary, buttery, salt-saturated foods). Believe me, I know what you're going through- I've been there- and am still fighting to maintain...but the grass really is greener on this side! Take off the cow-bell and let’s graze our way on over together.
