Introduction	Five years ago I completed my doctorate in history at Texas A&M University. My other passion is flying as captain on the Boeing 737 for a well-known international airline. I pursued a Ph.D. to qualify for a second career and because I enjoy researching challenging historical topics in depth and presenting my findings to interested readers. In this and other endeavors I enjoy the unflagging support of my wonderful wife, Ruth, and my twelve-year-old daughter Megan, pictured above at age seven, and two fantastic children from Ruth's previous marriage, Brittany and Kyle.
