| Introduction | I am a self taught artist with a passion for learning as much as I can. I paint mostly with oil but am not afraid to try new things. Growing up I always loved crayons, pens, colored pencils and anything with color. I first tried oil painting in my teenage years but gave it up for typical teenage activities like friends and Friday night football games. A college class brought me back to art but once again there were too many things going on in my life to hold my interest. In 2001 I began experimenting with acrylic paints and inks and started sketching. I discovered that I was able to draw faces but quickly realized I needed more color in my artwork. I then began experimenting with Pastels and Encaustics. In 2003 my original Encaustic Art was featured in Expression Magazine and this reignited my passion. Eventually I came back to oil paints and brushes and this time I was undeniably hooked. I attacked with fervor and here I am today. While Oil Painting is my first love, I also enjoy painting in Acrylics, Watercolor, Pastels, Mixed Media and Encaustic Art. My primary passion is painting flowers but I also love landscapes, portraits and more recently horse portraits. |
